Editing services
The only measure of a document's clarity is whether it can be read, understood and acted upon on a single reading.
We can edit your documents to make them as clear as possible for your intended audience.
When providing our editing service we use our detailed knowledge of language and years of experience in plain English. Our editors can produce high-quality work within short deadlines. We are happy to look at a document and give you an estimate of our editing costs. The estimate covers all editing needed to produce a final version that both you and we are happy with. We can also provide a short sample edit of part of your document when we send you the estimate.
We would not usually increase our estimate unless you add pages to the document during the editing process.
We can edit a Microsoft Word document on screen and return the file to you with our changes highlighted, or provide a hard copy showing handwritten amendments.
You do not have to apply for the Crystal Mark to use our editing services, and we can work on any document. You do not have to be a corporate member to use our editing services, but if you are you will get a discount.
We can also send an editor to your offices to spend a day giving your documents individual attention. This will allow you to discuss the editing and see why we suggest particular changes. If this interests you, please ask about our 'one-to-one' service.
We can test documents on a panel of the general public to confirm the document's clarity.
If you have a document (or several documents) that are ready for editing, and you would like an estimate, please email it to info@plainenglish.co.uk. Once you have accepted the estimate, we can then start working on your document.

We also have a brochure and price list covering all our services. This is in Adobe Acrobat format. The brochure will take about 15 seconds to download on a computer with broadband, and one to two minutes on a computer with a dial up modem.
